Done, delivered, and shivered all the way home

The hubs and I rode the motorcycle to deliver this baby quilt to my mom's (she's my liaison up north). We realized about half hour into the drive north that it definitely wasn't as warm as we thought. By the time we had ridden 1 hr 45 mins north, ate dinner and headed home, we had to stop by Meijer to get sweatpants to put OVER our jeans just so we could finish the last hour of the ride home. IT WAS SO COLD!

Once we got home, I scalded myself in the shower in an attempt to get warm- I was so cold I couldn't feel that the water was too hot!

In other news, I received the skirt I ordered from Bibbity Running, and I absolutely LOVE it!
I ran 4 miles in it today, and it is shocking how comfortable, how cool my lower half stayed, and how fun it was to wear!!! They're having a sale right now, so when I got home, I ordered 2 more skirts (white and red, since they will look good with most of my current running gear) before I even showered. They're that comfortable. And, what can I say, I'm partial to supporting fellow Hoosiers, especially when they donate a portion of their proceeds to help little kids fight cancer. I lost my dad to that evil disease, but at least he'd had a good chunk of life- these kids need all the help they can get just to live to be teenagers.

My muscles really seemed to enjoy my run today, but my energy was absolutely non-existent. I turned around at 2 miles because I realized I had forgotten to eat lunch. I think that's happened perhaps twice in the past. EVER. It also explains why I had a mild headache, and why I felt so sleepy after running errands.

Enjoy your weekend! I'm running a virtual 5k sometime next week, and meeting up with some fellow Green Dragons for Spartan training on Sunday. And, somewhere in there I hope to figure out my next sewing project!

My cute "babies"

Who needs a blanket when you have a friend? Sometimes, these two are just too darn cute. They slept like this all afternoon yesterday.

After my mini rant about skirt-haters, I purchased a running skirt last night. I guess there is still a bit of that rebellious nature left over from my younger years.
Especially when you factor in the fact that I dug out my tennis skirt (that I bought to wear for golf) and wore it for today's 3 mile easy run. Sort of my way of saying, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but first you'll have to catch me!"

And, on that note, I'm going to go finish binding that baby quilt. Quilt Police, I don't want to hear a word about the uneven stitches. I Know they're uneven, and I don't care. Neither will the baby who will soon be wrapped up, cuddled under, or puking on those uneven stitches. :D

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Don't let anyone bring you down today!

Quilty déjà vu

This is the first time i have made the same quilt twice, but when that's what a paying customer wants, that's what I do. It was easier the second time since the figuring was done, but not as exciting. Still, I'm very happy. Tomorrow it will get bound. Tonight, I'm watching Dancing With The Stars!

Why the snobbery? WHY?

It seems that in running, as in quilting, there are elitists/snobs/those who think they are superior.

I was looking for a tutorial to make a running skirt, and found a blog in which the owner used some extremely ugly language in regards to running skirts and those who wear them.

Excuse me, but who are you to judge? Why can't running be for fun? I will never be an Olympian, and I accept that, so why can't I have fun, why can't I wear a skirt, or even a full costume?

It makes me no less of a runner because I sometimes wear a sparkly green skirt, listen to music, and will never run as fast as the incredible Kara Goucher. The fact that I'm running, no matter how slowly, makes me  RUNNER.

Just like I am no less of a quilter because I don't always follow the rules. I confess that I sometimes use good ol' Dual Duty poly/cotton blend when I need a colored thread to match for topstitching. GASP! Arrest me now, Quilt Police! I also mix fabric lines, mix designer fabric with whatever is on hand, and ABSOLUTELY LOVE fabric that I've bought with a coupon!!!!!

My finished product has a top, batting, and a back, and is bound, and is therefore a QUILT. Making me a quilter.

I run; I am a runner. I quilt; I am a quilter.

I'm not asking you to run at my pace, nor am I asking you to sleep under my quilts.

Now, if anyone knows of a cute running skirt tutorial, I've got some costume ideas I'd love to work on for my next big run!

Haircut!

I seem to chop my hair off about every two years. Tuesday, it happened again. I'm still getting used to it. I miss the 10" that used to make my ponytail, but I like how easy it is to do when my hair is short like this!

Friday night

The hubs and I went on a motorcycle ride today, which just happened to include a short visit to a quilt shop. And, since I wanted a smaller purse that would fit in a saddlebag easier, I picked out 2 fat quarters and made this after I got home!
I got 4 other fq's, too. They will find their way into projects soon enough, work schedule permitting.
Enjoy your weekend!

Fun running!

I tried out my Team Sparkle skirt today- love!!! It took about 2 miles to get it in the best spot, but I'm now ready to rock it as a Green Dragon at the Spartan Sprint next month.
And the smiles I got on the trail made today's 5 miles SO FUN!!!!
